Caricature - fast and fun!

When drawing caricatures live on the spot, I am able to draw very quickly which people watching find very entertaining!

Above is such an example.

This takes me about five minutes to draw.

I guess as I have been drawing since I was a little kid and that I'm now 51 years of age, those years of experience have paid off and I can draw really fast.

Another thing also comes into play with this and that is confidence in your ability to draw a line on the paper.

I learnt from others that if you can be loose and free with your lines, then you will find it all flows together and it can become very enjoyable.

What I mean is that when I draw a line, I can find it very satisfying. It is only drawing a line but the flow and ebb of my arm movement and the pen gliding across the paper with the resulting line, can be a very enjoyable experience for an artist!

After a while you realise that you also build up speed and the lines are going down on the paper very quickly. It is a process of experience and confidence.

Anyway, I hope you like the little drawing above. My style usually receives a favourable response from people and it is so nice to see people enjoy and 'like' their caricatures once I have drawn them!
