Missing post?

Apologies for not posting yesterday. I have been so busy and not had a chance to get ahead of the game, so to speak and that led to me missing my very post this year!

It has been very busy with weddings and that is wonderful. It has been lots of fun during May and I was drawing at 21 events over the month. I met lots of people and everyone enjoyed the fun of the caricatures and had a good old laugh. They say laughter is the best medicine!

Some of the events were outside of Essex and it was actually nice to drive out to a different area and have a change of scenery. There were of course some traffic hold ups on the motorways but that was a minor frustration.

It is now just 2 months before my family and I go off on a well deserved holiday. I have at the moment, 27 events over the next two months before we go on vacation but I may still get booked for another one or two last minute requests.

I have said on a number of occasions, I am very lucky to be involved in the work that I do.

I do not take it for granted and I constantly strive to improve and change things, if required as I go along.

I work hard at producing a service that meets and often exceeds people's expectations when booking a caricature artist.

I approach it with the idea that it is entertainment and not just a funny drawing of a big nose. This formula seems to work very well.

To help me develop that and to stay 'sharp', I invest my time and money in attending the ISCA convention for caricature artists when ever I can and this November I shall be back in the USA at the next convention.

It is there that I get new ideas, share experiences and learn more about my work and the art form of caricature. I always have room to improve and I believe that to be a healthy approach to my work.

Meeting other artists is always a real pleasure. If your an artist and have never been to an ISCA convention, then I would encourage you to come and join us for the week at the convention and see what I am talking about and all that you are missing!

Hope to see you there!
