iMac good stuff

Well just wanted to say how cool iLife 09 is as you can see from the last couple of posts, I have put together a few 'vid's' on my newly set up YouTube account.

The great thing is this, iLife allows you to create these very easily using iMovie and makes the whole process smooth and enjoyable. I guess I took around 50 minutes to create and edit these video's you can see.

I am hoping to prepare some new video blogs for here so please do keep popping back to see when I have them up and 'live' for al to see.

Topics will range from art of course, through to computing and my travels, may even have some travel tips to share with you too!

So I can happily say I give a big thumbs up to Apple for their iLife software!

Created this for a client who wanted a look along the lines of the movie 'Sin City' and its graphic's representation.

Crazy life!

Been busy with stuff and some more very very sad news,.

I learned this weekend that two people I knew as friends sadly died, one very suddenly and a complete shock.

My own Father has been hospital this weekend and we have just brought him home this afternoon as he was discharged with an appointment to see a specialist consultant soon.

So apologies for not posting, will take me a few days to get back into the swing of things.

I received these two emails this week from events I had drawn at and it is so nice to get such positive feedback!

Busy as usual, commissions still on the go, booking flights for Orlando next August for our family summer holiday, tomorrow a good friend of ours is being ordained as a Priest in the Church of England and we have the whole day to share and celebrate with him!

Along with weddings it has been an exciting and busy summer this year!

I will try to post some art related topics soon but we are still saddened by the untimely death and huge loss of Ismael Roldan. His passing has left so many of us stunned and aware of our short time we have here on earth.

A VERY sad day

We are mourning the loss of a great caricaturist today, Ismael Roldan.

Ismael died at the age of 45 and as yet we do not know exactly what happened but it is terrible and very sad news.

We are all in shock about this.

Please stop by his website and take a look at his AMAZING caricatures. Ismael was a master of our art form and a very talented artist.

I missed the chance last year to meet him as I could not make the ISCA convention, where Ismael was the guest speaker.

May Ismael rest in peace and I pray for his family at this time, that they may find strength at this very painful and sad time.

RIP Keith Floyd

Sad news of the death of Keith Floyd who changed the way television gave us cooking lessons! He was unique and original and as he would say, "a bloody good cook".

9 the movie

This is a 'must see' movie. I have only seen the trailers so far and it looks like being an absolute classic movie of all time!

I shall be buying a copy of the DVD once it is released in the future!

Where's Steve?

Yes busy as usual and had little time to prepare my blog post's and apologies for not doing so, but what have I been up too then?

This week has been a typical week, here's some of the activity....

Live events included weddings both mid week and weekend, private parties and a big corporate event called THE SMART Festival, at Mercedes World which is located at the famous Brooklands, the birth place of British motorsport!

Commissions on the go and also received new enquiries for commissions but sometimes people leave it so late that I am unable to meet their deadline!

Checking and responding to a lot of emails every week, enquiries for my services and other requests. I also receive a lot of phone calls as well and I enjoy talking to potential new customers on the telephone.

Plus calls from businesses trying to sell me stuff, mostly telecommunications fishing for my business on their mobile network or how I can get cheaper calls if I sign up with them. I hate those type of calls as they are usually very pushy about trying to sell over the phone.

All this combined with my home and family life makes for a very busy 'typical' week for me.

The funny thing is, when I am drawing at weddings, people often ask me what I do during the week!

Here in the UK there is a really fun advert for a comparison website to do with insurance.

It is called compare the meerkat dot com and is a play of words on the real website that is compare the market dot com.

The main character is a Meerkat.

I love drawing and painting animals and this morning was in the 'zone' to paint one in photoshop!

Really hope you like it!

I wanted to move away from the solid cartoon lines that I usually work with to show the subject and instead create a 'painted' effect.
